Providing Locally Reclaimed Wood Furniture to Local People
In Dorset, many businesses and individuals have scrap wood left over from packaging, garden projects and building work. Ordinarily, you would have to pay to have this wood removed or burn it. I collect it and make it into furniture, this puts the wood back into peoples houses and gardens and creates a cycle whereby no wood is neadlessly wasted through landfill or being made into recycled chipboard, that loses its rustic charm through blending pieces of individual beauty into a single, one size fits all, piece.
Fresh Sawn Timber Furniture And Design
My fresh sawn timber furniture is made from locally milled and sourced (often grown as close as Wareham Forest) timber, making it truely unique and Dorset through and through. Sourcing timber locally does restrict the species of timber available, however, we're blessed in Dorset with Douglas Fir, Scots Pine, Western Red Cedar, Beech, Ash, Oak, Sweet Chestnut and many more species grown in the county. I also design all of my furniture myself and can work to your specifications, either from consulting verbally or working from images sourced by the customer, then providing renders and sketches if requested.
Carpentry Services
With a knowledge of bench-top joinery processes and timber species and their various uses, I started doing some door hanging and boxing-in a few years ago, to get me out of the cold workshop in the winter months, and since then I've branched out in to other carpentry services (examples of which you can see in my gallery) and now work year round on both furniture making and carpentry. Over in the gallery, you'll see many doors, replacement handrails, storage solutions such as wardrobes, filing cabinets and under-stairs cupboards, trim replacement and other second-fix carpentry that I offer.
